Make it Simpler



One easy way to make a problem simpler is to break it down into smaller questions.  You can use other problem solving techniques to make these smaller questions easier.  Your answers to these smaller problems will make finding the answer to the original question simpler as well.


Example:  Kerri realized a pie can be cut into seven pieces with three straight cuts. What is the largest number of pieces that she can make with eight straight cuts?
